As a young man, in my younger years, I used to think labour is the absolute measre of human intelligence. I knew of nothing else except, that death defeats life, education eradicates poverty. While I had held this as my gospel truth, I don’t hold the same confidence anymore.
Though time has elapsed, to this day, I still recall my initial experience flying on an aeroplane for the very first time. I can vividly capture the moment, the thrill, the tactility, the sensation of being lost in the wonders of the blue sky. I can still feel the excitement, the adulation, the vibration transcending through my veins, as the Pilot ignited the engines and the plane took from the ground.
I can still feel the spark in my body igniting, the convulsion running, the propellers spinning relentlessly as the plane ascends high, sending quivers down my spine. Although no one noticed, deep down, my brain was on fire, excited to soar higher.
It was in this moment of thrill, as the plane ascended beyond the thick dark clouds into the open blue sky, that the quivers steadied, and the fears I had before boarding dissipated. It was then, my mind found serene, as we ascended the heaven above, witnessing the wonders of the open blue sky.
It’s as though I was dreaming, then the dream came true. In all respect, it was humbling witnessing the once towering cities beaming like piles of fading stones. The rivers that once ran deep, signifying nothing from this point of view.
From this profound realisation, I gained the wisdom to pen down, nothing in life is as seems; sometimes we fear for what we don’t understand. It was then I knew, no one had prophesied this moment for me, no one had mentioned that one day I would live to ascend the heaven above and touch the sky with seraphic grace.
It was then I retrieved a notebook from my bag and began to write. Accordingly, I understood, when you believe in yourself, thinking in a certain way is no longer viewed derogatory. Once you embrace upon the power of self, once you appreciate your cause, and learn to stand up for yourself. You stop fixating about what is, you stop questioning what was, you begin cultivating with what you do have, becoming the person you design.
No matter your circumstances, no matter your battles, no matter how dark the road, walk head high and realise, no harm can come to you until it is your time. Fear not, and realise, problem come and problem end, yours is to endure through the unknown. Believe in yourself as you must in the rise of a new horizon.
